Sedan center brake light wire routing? 200

Where do the wires run for the sedan center brake light?

I've cleaned up the various rear lighting problems but still have the BFWR lighting up when using the brake. I think I'd better check the ground etc. Can someone say where those wires run? Kinda hard to trace, though I didn't try too hard - it was late when I finished up yesterday.

I think I have seen that routing while doing other things.

From the light, it runs to the left side under the package tray covering, then down behind the seat back. Somewhere in there it joins up with the large harness that runs under the seat bottom and everything else, up to the front. Comes up under the galvanized metal cover that's under drver's left foot.

Somehow I would think that the center light is not the BFWS problem. It is entirely inside the cabin, not subject to elements like the lower two.

Good Luck,

Bob

The bit about the parcel shelf is correct. From there, I'm pretty sure that it heads *back* into the trunk area, where it joins the main harness which feeds the taillights.

The junction should be somewhere way up above the spare tire, as far as you can reach.

And the ground??
Do you know where that goes?

From your post above, it might travel with that harness and emerge in the trunk.
If you recall, please tell.

Thanks!

I don't exactly remember (I pulled the wiring from the 88 last fall, and it's currently hanging on my garage wall -- yes, the *entire* wiring harness).

What I recalled is that the brake light grounds in the trunk.

However, a quick glance at my 1988 electrical green book shows that the high-level brake light gets its ground under the rear seat, driver's side. Same place that the main fuel pump gets its ground.

You may need to remove the lower section of the seat to get access: push in at the front bottom of the seat, and then the front should be able to come up.

Hope this helps,

Michel
