AC recharging

Hello,
I have a '94 940, which I presume uses r134a refrigerant. I saw at Advanced Auto that they were selling recharge canisters with built in pressure guages. Is such a canister sufficient to recharge the system or do I need to be able to create a vaccum first? If so, what equip do I need to make the vaccum? I have access to an air compressor...

Thanks a lot, its getting hot out there!

AC recharging

Is this a low charge, or a no charge?
If it's just low, the recharge can will work; if it's out, you'll need to pull a vacuum with a vacuum pump, some of which are air operated.
