GT Sway Bars 200

Hello,

What are the sway bar diameters (front and rear) for the GT series by year. The 1980 is the one I am very interested in. Thanks

Mario

'80 is just turbo bars, 23/21. '79 is 21/23 (R sport front springs). '78 is puny bars but variable components were fitted in '78.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the '79 GT was the only model year to come with a stock 23mm. rear bar and 21mm. front. I think the other years ('78 and '80) both came with stock 21mm. rear and 21mm. front bars. The '79 stock suspension package (I believe actually called the GT Roadhandling Kit) also came with stiffer R-sport front springs and upper chassis braces, and optional R-Sport Rally or R-Sport Road/Rally shock/strut packages. Of course, if you purchased a '78 or '80 model GT, the GT Roadhandling Kit would've been available as an option, it's just that it came stock in '79. Also, I believe the '78 came with stock lower chassis braces. I think this info. is correct, but as I say, I could be wrong. Check out this website for more info. on R-Sport parts and options:

Dave Barton also has a great website with lots of info.:

Hope this helps.
