Kruse Lucas sucks, wrong ECU 700

Aside from the EGR issues Kruse/Lucas caused when they frankensteined my car, they installed the wrong ECU unit. Kruse/Lucas is a Used car dealership that I don't much like after seeing how they've "repaired" my car. My parents bought it initially back in 1999 for 7K$. It's a 1990 740 turbo.

I was looking around my car and the Bosch website and used their parts locator... I have the wrong ECU installed. The Bosch site lists 0 227 100 145 as the right ECU for a 90 740T and I have a 0 227 100 124 installed. The same parts finder says this is for a pre-89 car.

What sorts of things would this explain?

I've got the 0 280 000 560 primary computer installed. This should be fine, as it's interchangeable with the -563. My car is a California car and has EGR. I found this info at:
http://billgarland.mcmaster.ca/volvo/database/ECU1.htm
But I'm not sure I'm reading the table right. I do have a cali car.

I've gotten in contact with a (new car) dealership here in town called Modest European. They should be getting back to me tomorrow.

I appreciate any input. Could this be making for 18.5-21 mpg?
(Maybe I should take a trip to small claims court in the future?)

I've been very disappointed with my 18.5-20 mpg. It's not very good. I've seen numerous posts of 22-26 as average for volvos all over the board. I don't have a locking torque converter, which drops it more, but 18.5 is abysmal. My parents 95 ford van gets 20 and my volvo's smaller, lighter, etc.
I drove hard all summer in the mountains and got 22-24 all summer. It was great. I don't know when or if the car has actually gotten better mileage. My parents kept no records of that kind and I didn't start tracking it until about 2 years ago. I inherited it from them at 16 (not quite 3 years ago) and didn't pay a lot of attention to it besides oil changes until about a year ago.

I don't know how this car is running with mismatched computers. My PCM/PCU is actually silver aluminum, not black or blue.

      Hi,
I figured i would chime in here on the gas mileage discussion. I have an '87 745t w/m46 with 219k on it. I usually don't check my gas mileage(ok almost never), but on one trip last fall on trip with my youngest daughter from southern Ma. to southern N.H. and then to western Ma to visit oldest daughter at college I did check and was very surprised. I got 29.xx for the trip. Mostly stayed around the speed limit with a couple of high speed passes on the Ma. pike. I new it did well but was surprised how well.

p.s. I also have a Dodge Ram pick up for work w/ 318c.i. motor and this thing gets around 16mpg mixed driving about 18 -20 hiway at 60mph. no complaints

Whats wrong with 18.5-21 mpg? Sure it should be a little better on the highway, but most of my cars with automatics have gotten right about 20 mpg with mixed city/highway driving.

The turbos always score a little worse on the mileage scale. What do you think you should be getting? Was it better at some time in the past? I'm trying to figure out what exactly is wrong here.

As for the computers, I don't know having not looked at any reference, what the computer part numbers are for LH2.2/2.4 or 49-state/50state cars... but crossing the 89/90 divide should not be possible. An early ignition or fuel computer should not work at all in a late car. Two very different systems.
