Upholstery repair 700 1987

I have started to get wear in the outer edge of the driver's seat back vinyl? leather? where you move against it when getting in and out. I need to replace this section and need a piece of material to do this. The interior is dark red trim with red/light tan checked centers which is found in a white car. I am told it's not super common. Would anyone have an extra seat that this could be removed from to give me enough material for repair? Back seat cover would be ideal to give extra material.

If you do and would be willing to part with it, I would be happy to pay for material/shipping.

Thanks for any help.

Gary

    Upholstery repair 700 1987

I recently spoke with a guy who rebuilds cars and said he got complete interior panels for around $300.00 (I paid $650.00 for a shop to redo 940 front seats with quality leather; great job). These are complete coverings. You remove hog rings and old material and slip the new skin over your foam and reattach hog rings.

If your interested I will call him monday and find out where he got the interior. You may find it reasonable to replace the entire seat panel. Let me know (can email at garyh01@ameritech.net).

You may find a local auto upholstery shop has this. Remove the seat skin from the seat (see FAQ) and have them sew in a replacement panel. If it is leather, it can easily be dyed to match. If vinyl, you may find the selection large enough to reach a near-match.
