Please help me instal the distributor 200

Hello Bricksters!

I managed to pull the distributor out of the block before aligning to the TDC. Can anybody tell me how the distributor (rotor) is turned when the engine is in TDC. Are there any notches to align the thing as it supposed to be?

This is a quite urgent matter, so any help is very much appreciated!

With crank and cam set to 0° TDC...

1) Align rotor center line to mark on rim that Trev29 mentions

2) Then turn rotor about 30° to the right (clockwise)
>>this is to allow for gear angle engagement when distributor is inserted<<

3) Insert distributor. As drive gears engage, the rotor should turn back left and be pointing at the rim mark, which represents 0°

4) Run engine to set timing advance (mounting adjustment) with timing light

Bruce, I'm just gathering some info for 'someday'.

A very good point about moving the rotor 30 degrees to alow for the gears to engage.
I was wondering, Is the oil pump also attached to the bottom of the distributor like on Chev engines?

Just wondering if you have to orient the slot in the oil pump to also line up with the bottom of the distributor as it engages with the Crank?

The oil pump is driven by another gear located further down the shaft, under the PCV box...

On the distributor rim, under the cap, is an alignment notch for cylinder 1 ignition wire. Have the notch oriented at about 7 o'clock (6 o'clock points directly forward at rad).
