Brian - The 142/144 fuel tank capacity is shown in various sales brochures of the period (1968 thru 1973) at 15.3 gal.

Tank is about 14.5 gallons.
I get 25 around town 30 on the highway (around 70 mph).
This is with a '72 144 B20 + 0.030", twin SU HIFs, M41 w/ D-type, 4.11 rear.

I recall getting 23-25 around town and 30 on the highway with several different injected 140s with overdrive. Carbs might not do quite as well. Straight four speed should do the same around town, less on the highway. Automatic a little less than that. 164s are a lot thirstier.

Not sure about the milage, I'll agree with George says on that. As far as I know though from the last time I filled my tank, which was a couple years ago I recall putting just over 15 gallons in it. The replacement tanks are listed as being 16 gallons, of course I have a 73 so I'm not sure if that's different or not.

Probably around 12 gallons.
Depends on condition and how you drive. Could be 25 or more on the
highway, less in town.

I recently saw a rather elegant solution in a performance setup for a 142, which mounted an after-market fuel cell, like those used in many muscle cars in the shelf area of the trunk which I conjecture is a more ideal weight distribution than the original and would avoid rust.
