The Volvo 144 was introduced in August 1966. Does anyone know the exact date?

142 and 145, both at some time in '67. My book is not any more specific on this. All of these introduction dates are for the original debut in Sweden. The cars took a while to find their way across the ocean.

There were only a very few 67 144s sold in the USA. They can be distinguished by chrome pushbuttons with three lines on them on the outside door handles, as opposed to black plastic on 68-71 models

142 and 145 were introduced here as 68 models---the only year for the B18 in these two. I seem to recall a road test of a B18 145 that found it to be woefully underpowered.

According to the FIA homologation paperwork, the first 144 was manufactured on 15th August 1966 (with the homologation target of 5,000 cars reached on 28/2/67.

Very appropriate, seeing my new 144 will be registered tomorrow (the 15th) :o)
