It's alive - and it stops! 120-130

Here is a photo (maybe) of my new/old brake system. The MC is from a 164 although this same MC was used on some 140s and 1800s (late 60 to early 70s).
The Girling MK2a Servo was put together from several that I had - 1 from the car - two from e-bay. Also the seals in the rebuild are not much like the ones that were original and I added a couple too. note the cool green UNI filter on the servo!
I can't say it stops any better but it sure stops easier, I like the pedal feel much better also, less travel before things start to happen. I was running a single line MC from a '66 Amazon.

Cheers!
OK

Very slick, Dave. Are you intending on selling a seal kit for the booster? Maybe I'll hang on to the old Girling unit I have until you've put a few miles (and panic stops) on your setup.

Cheers,

Barry

Looks great! Where does the other line from the MC go? to the rear wheels?

Yep, nuthin fancy, just trying to put it back like it was. Stops pretty good now, should be better when I deal with the rear drums, for some reason it has a 7/8" and 1" piston on the rear!? I am going to put them both back to 1" next.
By the way how are things in B'ville? The car and I are both from Tahlequah!

Cheers!
OK

107° yesterday and 104 predicted for today.
Pretty hot, otherwise dry but more or less OK.
Where are you now?

I and the car migrated to Tucson Az. 20 years ago. The desert (and sky) is amazing! They don't put all those big telescopes here for nothing! Only 97 here today - but it's a dry heat;-)

Cheers!

Not only that but you have Revolvstore for parts, Nogales for Mexican food
and not much in the way of cold weather. Ever get to San Simón? (I-10 near
the NM state line)
That is where my white 73 164 wiped out. We hitchiked from there to Lordsburg,
caught a Greyhound to El Paso where we could rent a car. Boy did that rental
car feel good!! As we cranked it up and started east, this was running through
my mind: "Much of what this rental costs us we will save in gasoline. The
air conditioner works FINE! and if there is a problem with this car, it is
NOT MY problem!!!"

Yeah been thru San S. there is a pretty cool "ghost town" near there called Shakespere, a little touristy but not as bad as some.
As to Mexican food "El Charro" is right in Tucson (we live outside the city), it don't get much better than that, the tortillas are the size of horse blankets and you can see thru em!
The Revolvstore? Well mama said, don't say anything if you cain't say somethin good, they USED to be great...but got sold, kinda like Volvo (shrugs).

Cheers!
Dave G.
P.S. IIRC there is a cool Frank Wright building in Bartlesville, or is that somewhere else?

There is. See www.pricetower.org

Did Revolvstore get sold again? I had understood it was better after
the new owner took over. Been about 10 years since I was there though,
so I am completely ignorant of current affairs.

Yep, sold again, the guy that started it (can't recall his name) was great, very helpful and knowledgable. The next owners seemed ok too. This new lot, well I tried them a few months ago for a clutch MC kit for my 122 - they did'nt have one! I asked about ordering and they said they could not get them! I went to Checker on my way home(large generic auto parts store) and they got me one by noon - next day.
I don't know how many Volvos use the same clutch MC...but I know it is a lot, this is a kit that should be a stock item for anyone wanting to even pretend that they cater to Volvo owners!
I bet they have fake cell phone antennas for the new ones though!

Cheers!
OK
