Flywheel Bolts 200

I am replacing the clutch in my '87, original clutch 200K miles. Bentley recommends replacing the flywheel bolts. Is this really necessary and if it is, where can I get new bolts? Thanks.

It's not neccessary, but it certainly doesn't hurt. If you got 200K out of a clutch, I would guess that you have never put the original bolts under any sort of serious stress.

I replaced mine as well as the four bolts for the torque converter. All are available from the dealer... all together with washers it ran around $20.

This is not Volvo-specific advice, but in general, if you remove a flywheel, you should replace the bolts that attach it to the crankshaft. I always have, though I have never removed a Volvo flywheel. For the record, I have never replaced brake caliper bolts and have rarely replaced head bolts.

Sorry, I don't know where to find them, but I would look on the Internet a while before giving up and going to the dealer.

I went to my local fastener shop and took one of the bolts with me and they matched them up by reading the symbols on the head of the bolt and checking the thread pitch of course. I think they were under a buck each that. Good Luck!
