240 Springs 700

Good evening Bricksters. I'd like to poll the community about current spring and shock preferences. I have been using B&G springs for a few years now and I'm very pleased with them. However they are currently unavailable due to problems the importer is having. I've communed today with a couple of Volvo-philes about the IPD TME springs. I've heard they are more bearable than the earlier ones (which I remember being very harsh) but so far the input is that they are stiffer. I thought I'd solicit opinions on those springs, preferences on shock absorbers for lowered cars, and possible alternative springs that I may not have heard about. Oh, and combinations of the above as they apply to 240's. Specifically I'm working on an '85 244.

Drop me a line with your thoughts, they will be appreciated!

Dave

This response means little, because I've never run any other type of lowering spring...but here it goes because no one else is responding.

My '83 wagon has the TME springs with Bilstein HDs and turbo sway bars. The ride is a little hard but very controlled. It is not noticibily harsher than my '85 with OEM springs and Bilstein HDs. The height with the TMEs looks very nice, less tractor-like. However, the car seems to scrape at every chance (backing out of the driveway, taking surface streets to work, etc). Hope this helps.

Much appreciated. Prodigious surfing has finally turned up another source for the Lesjoforhs springs (sp?) which B&G sells, so a big sigh of relief there. However I may have to give the TME's a shot at some point just to satisfy my curiosity.

We have the HD's and turbo bars on our '83 245 also. Though I've gone to heavier bars on my '91 245, the turbo bars are still a super upgrade that I think a lot of people overlook. The 244 got a set yesterday.

Thanks,
DS

I've never done anything but OEM replacements. I recently bought a set of rear springs from FCP Groton for my 84 244, but the car expired before I could install them.
Check the classifieds if your interested.
