Good Evening, Tulip0852:
Vehicle: 92 740 B230F Non Turbo 4 Cylinder Auto, fuel injected. 197,000 miles, Last Timing Belt-150.000 miles. I just bought the car last week. Everything seemed fine. No previous starting issues up until I went out in AM & it cranked but no start. Checked #1 fuse OK, checked battery OK, fuel in tank OK, Checked coil spark NG no spark, Went to local autowrecker & picked up used coil & module (what the coil attaches to) same result NG, returned same & picked up new coil attached same & same result NG no spark. Took out rubber plug on timing belt cover & observed belt in place & apparently OK. Meanwhile disconnected battery (bad move) & checked connections there. Minor cleaning & reattached & then read online info, of course I lost any previous codes. Obtained fault code info & procedures, attempted to start NG no spark. Then I checked out RPM sensor on bell housing via test module on strut tower. Entered sequence for RPM sensor & result showed sensor NG. I don't know if this result is conclusive or another component could lead to a failure showing for the sensor. This is where the situation stands at the moment. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.
