A few months ago my keyless remote quit. I thought it was the batteries, purchased new ones, still nothing. I can hear a click from the remote when I press the key. Is there a way to do some diagnostics on this.

I had a '98 S90 that had the same problem. Remote needs reprogrammed to sync up with the car's security system. Check the message board for accuracy on this, but from what I remember here's how to reprogram the remotes.

From inside the car with doors closed and locked, put key in the ignition position I. Switch between Position I/Position II four times(or maybe it's five-can't remember). The dash security LED will begin blinking. At this point, push the 'unlock' button on the remote once (or once on EACH of up to three remotes, if you have more than one - multiple remotes have to be programmed at the same time or only the ones you reprogram will work - if you push the button on one remote 3x, it will fill all three code ID slots and remaining remotes will not be accepted and you'll have to start over). The dash will respond with a beep. Remove the key and exit the vehicle - remote(s)should work.

My S90 got crunched by a big Dodge Truck, but I still have the remote. Been meaning to sell it on eBay, but haven't gotten around to it. Seen them go on eBay for north of $75 and new at the dealer they're $110-120. I'd sell it to a fellow Brickboarder for $50, if anyone is interested.

Is the remote the only thing you have left of the S90? I am looking for some interior trim bits for weeks, with no luck unless I buy the entire door trim panel or the entire E-brake console.

I do have a replacement lower door hinge for the driver's door. This is the one that has the lever-type spring that rides on a wheel with stops to hold the door open at two or three positions . The lever that rests on the wheel broke on the old one disabling the "stop" feature so it would swing open freely - I was afraid it would ding someone else's door in a parking lot somewhere if I didn't replace it. Unfortunately the car got crunched before I could get the hinge installed. Know anyone that needs a door hinge?

Hmmm...

My driver's door is a "Swing Wide, Sweet Chariot door" type.

It looks like the hinge is OK, but when opening all the way it goes to max place on the little roller, and then swings farther out. I think the door itself is bent a little, but it might be the hinge.

That being the case, my need for your hinge is not as great as for someone who has the same problem you had - broken "stop" spring. So if you get no takers on that need, I'll take it.

No hurry, we can survive a little longer.

No problem. The bought the replacement hinge used and paid $35 + $15 shipping. I'd like to get my money out of it, but I'll take best offer.

It's kind of beat up for $50 don't you think? I don't know what they go for in the US but a new one is only $100 candian. The dealer will give me 15% off as well so about $85 canadian will get me a new one. If you're willing to take less I will consider it otherwise I think I'll buy the new one.

I never advertised it as new - it IS an 8 year old remote and shows its age. It will do the same thing as a new one. This type of remote is hard to find used (the 4 button type won't work on the 960/S90/V90). But if it's worth the extra wad of cash to you to be the first person to ever push the button on a new remote, that's OK. I'll just put it on eBay.

$50 is a pretty good deal, if you find a used will work just fine for you. By comparison, here's a link to another used one on eBay that is Buy-It-Now for $79.95 plus shipping:
