TOE-OUT 444-544

Hi guys
I am about to get the alignment looked at on my 1963 544. In the owners manual, it gives the caster/ camber and toe-in, but NOT the toe-out.

Could someone enlighten me why the toe-out is not given and what does the correct alignment vis-a-vis the toe-out do for the car and its behaviour.

Thanking you in advance

Sunil

Toe out is the opposite of toe in; you can't have both at the same time.

I believe he is referring to a separate measurement... toe-out in turns. On that subject, the shop manual for the 544 indicates that toe-out should be 22 degrees, plus or minus 1 degree, when the opposite wheel is turned in 20 degrees. This is checked after camber, caster, and toe-in are adjusted. There is no way to adjust toe-out; if it is not in spec, you must replace parts. When you check toe-out, you're essentially checking for bent or damaged parts like steering rods or steering knuckles.

Have you checked this article out, don't know if it applies to 544 or not?:
