Bugs Bunny 900 1994

I decided today that I should realy do something about the 940 wagon I have sitting about. It's a 940 manual overdrive. Ran beautifully apart from the fact that it had an intermittent Turbo fault. The Turbo used to seize, the car lost all power, and after a while there'd be a loud squeek and it'd work properly for a while again.

Today I opened the bonnet and sitting on top of the engine is a HUGE rabbit.

There are rabbit hairs everywhere, it's eaten the HT leads, the windscreen washer hose, the wiring to the indicators, the wiring to the washerpumps, The coolant hose coming off the bottom of the expansion bottle (shouldn't the antifreeze have killed it?)

Now I knew I'd left it sitting too long, and I expected to have to do some additional stuff like the brakes as a penalty for neglecting it for nine months, but I really hadn't expected it to be attacked by an antisocial rabbit!

I guess the qu4estion is in the balance, do I fix it, or tow it to the scrapyard. It's an exceptionally straight car but there could be all sorts of stuff I haven't spotted. GRRRRRR

Pete

I'm still debating whether its safe after it's ingested antifreeze?

I got a good laugh, and some great mental images from that, especially since I had watched "Wallace and Gromit, The Curse of The Were-Rabbit" with my daughter the other night.

Better keep an eye on that rabbit at the next full moon.

Seriously, it sounds like much too nice of a car to scrap. I am sure someone would like to have a go at it, if you don't want to tackle the 'rabbit attack problems', and all of the other things that are wrong. It can be a pain.

I don't think glycol is instant death for most animals. I'd guess that the
quickest it would kill one would be a few days unless he really drank a lot.

How bad does the damage look?

btw my family and friends called me "Bugs" for the first 30 years of my life.
I inherited the name from my father who got it from his sister who was 1½ yrs
old when he was born, trying to say something like "brother".

Its all fixable, I'll find a car in a yard and just relieve it of the appropriate section of wiring and solder and shrink wrap. Its just a pain, it could turn into a lot of work and a lot of it is in nice cosy inaccesible places.

I'm not sure whether I want to do it or not, it's a basically nice car, but they just don't have any value here.

A friend of mine has his sister coming over and needs a car for her, so I thought we'd recommission this one, but as is often the case, a simple job has just turned more complicated.

940 turbo 900 1994

Hi,

If you decide to scrap I could be interested in the turbo rad, and the coolant rad, and the relay, and the appropriate hoses (if they're still good after the rabbit took up residence)

Tell me about it.
Following a motor mount failure in the Yellow Peril, Ben had the downpipe
fatigue off just below the flange where it bolted to the manifold. All the
pipes were pretty new but some %#$$ had tack welded the headpipe to the front
muffler. We spent most of 2 days getting it apart, fixed and back together
right. (Sure sounds better now, though!)
