Now I need a... 700 1990

My wife's 90 745 celebrated it's new clutch by....
breaking the driver's seatbelt receiver! Hooray!

If anyone has one that they want to sell, I want to buy one. I don't want to pay the $105 that the dealer gets. I did note that they have the part in stock- what does that tell you?

I'm willing to pay a reasonable price based on condition. The one I had, the red plastic got all chalky and it was very tough to get it to latch just before it failed.

You can email me at myvwsgotme (at) snet dot net.

I don't know if it matters whether it comes from an airbag car or not. 90's have airbags.

Rob,

I've got a seat belt reciever off the front driver seat I swapped into my 87 745 a couple of months ago. The donor was a 900 series turbo - can't remember what year, early 90's though. You can have it if it will work for you. I'll dig it out when I get home tonight. Are there any part numbers on yours to match up to, or maybe if you can shoot a pic of it we might be able to see if its the same.

Jim

Are you sure it's broken? I have found coins and other foreign objects in a couple of seatbelt connectors. Take it off and see what you can shake out.

Good Luck,

Dude- call Chuck& Eddie's. They have all sorts of old Volvos, and are real nice about letting you walk around and help yourself. I once got a "self-destruct" switch for my old 244T from them- for free!

Well, I have an 89 that kinda sorta fits. It will mount and it will work, but it won't match and has no light in it. I used it until I finally found one from a 90 at the place that my parents bought my car years ago.

In the mean time, to make it driveable, the passenger will swap with the driver's side perfectly.
I recommend checking your pick and pull if this gets you no other hits as it's not really worth the trouble to replace it once and then again.

There is a cable for the light in the receiver that runs under the seat to the opposite side and over towards the front outside edge of the seat. To get at it, I found it easy to move the seat to one extreme and get at it from the opposite extreme, but I don't remember which. You'll have to cut the plastic zip ties that hold the wire up under the seat.
