Reprogramming keyless entry S90-V90

Hello all,

I need help reprogramming my keyless entry fob.
I replace the batteries in it and I can't seem to find the instructions to reprogram it.

If anyone can supply me with it, I would be very grateful.

Thanks!

I was fortunate enough to get the Owner's Manual with my 1997 965. The instructions are cleverly hidden therein. If you did not get this book, call 1-800-25-VOLVO or visit www.volvotechinfo.com and order one.

(Note that the page numbers refrenced are from my 1997 book, the book for the S90 may have a different page arrangement. Look in the Index near the back of the book.)

If you look on page 3:3 "Remote Keyless Entry System" you get a lot of helpful info but no programming intructions.

Then look at page 3:21 "Alarm", as directed on 3:3.

Here are the instructions from page 3:21 :

New transmitters (max.4) must be programmed to function with your alarm system. To do this:

    1. Make sure all doors, hood and trunk/tailgate are closed.

    2. Turn the ignition on and off five times within 10 seconds. On the fifth try, leave the ignition on.

    3. Press either button on the transmitter.

NOTE: The first transmitter must be programmed within 15 seconds, the others within 10 second intervals. When the alarm system accepts the code from each transmittee, the LED on the dash will glow steadily for several seconds.

    4. Switch the ignition off and test each transmitter.

From page 3:3 : Volvo does not recommend using the transmitter to lock the doors from inside the car. On cars equipped with an alarm, the alarm would be activated and would sound when one of the doors is opened.

From page 3:21 : If only the driver's door is unlocked, the lock will automatically reengage (re-lock) and the alarm will reset after 30 seconds unless the door has been opened.

If all the doors were unlocked (by pushing button 2 twice within 10 seconds) and no door/trunk/tailgate was opened within two minutes, all locks will reengage and the alarm will reset.

If the alarm LED glows continuously for 5 seconds, this indicates a fault in the system or that a door is not properly closed.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

Be aware that if you have two fobs you have to do both of them, even though only one is not working.
Otherwise the good one is removed from the memory.

      Also,
you need to do it until the little red alarm light on the passenger side dash starts blinking. Then press any button on the remote.

Well I did this a couple months ago, and I will try to help you out. Get in the car, put key in, go from position I to II back and fourth 5 times. Then press the lock on they key fob. I am pretty sure thats how you do it. There is a post about this which is where I got the info from.
