Original cloth available 200

In case it's of interest to someone -
A company in Sweden is offering original Volvo cloth (AA Autoglas AB, http://www.aa-autoglas.se/), here's their ad:
http://www.blocket.se/vi/10111051.htm

The text says something like this:

"A temporary consignment of Volvo original cloth in mixed colors. 140-150 cm wide. For Volvo 240, 740, 850 and others. Price: 350 SEK per meter. Minimum order 1 meter."

I wonder if this means Volvo have disposed of their stock of fabric for older models. It was possible to order a seat cover from Volvo for all these older models - maybe this is what it would have been made from, and the covers are now deleted from the spares.

I doubt I'd have ordered a new one anyway - but it's always good to know they are available.

Cool! I'm very glad to hear this because the previous owner of my '93 was not careful about where he put out his cigarettes. This may be a good alternative to buying junk yard seats.

Thanks for the info, Erling!

It works out to $50 per sq. meter. How many seats can you cover with that much cloth? And what do seats from the junkyard typically go for?

Around here? A seat is about $40. You see, yard owners near me think that if they hold on to old cars long enough, they will eventually turn into diamonds, but they reluctantly allow us to buy parts from them in the meantime.

A sq. meter should replace the cloth from one entire front seat. So it's not that bad. Brand new OEM cloth, or strip off a 20 year old seat cover from the junk yard for about the same price. It's a toss-up, depends on how much money I have when I got to re-cover them. Anyway, compare it to the outrageous cost of IPD's seat covers.

EDIT: though at $50 a meter, I'll probably find a cloth I prefer for a quarter the price. I've been thinking red plaid...

I don't think you can cover a whole seat with one square meter of fabric.
A meter is only 3 3/8" bigger than a yard..... You could cover the top of
the seat bottom or the front of the seat back with 1 square meter.
