Greetings,

I'm considering looking at a '92 240GL with 250,000 miles. Needs a blower motor and heater core / HCV. They're asking $2700.

Trim question - did this year come with the black "turbo" side molding and the "black with chrome" bumper molding? That struck me as odd, but I don't much about the '92's.

Any other problems with this year / model??

    Sorry can't help you with carfax. However $2500 seems too much given the mileage(yeah I know its a Volvo but still thats high mileage) and that it needs work. If you were to have a shoppe do work you say it needs that would be at least $500 and maybe as much as $750.

      I concur with Lummer57 on the price issue. I paid $2100 for a 1 owner 92 240GL with 126K on it last August. It was driveable - I took it to Vegas the same weekend, w/o visiting a mechanic or checking anything, but over the following months put more money into it than it was actually worth, in order to drive it for another 5 years.

      I wouldn't pay anything over about $2000 for any Volvo 240, unless you're buying a professionally restored, highly modded secret-beast, one-of-a-kind car.

      BTW, I live in OC, CA, so the car has a dicey paintjob (sun+close to the beach) but otherwise the car was near perfect. There is a spot of rust in the trunk about the size of a half-dollar. All body is straight, 'cept a dent in one door.

      I just can't imagine this car being worth what they're asking. Is there something special about it? If not, $2700 for 1/4 million K is too much.

      PS - I'll take some pix of my car tomorrow and post them, so you can see the GL trim on the 92. I think it is in fact black/chrome overall.
