front brake backing plates 200

Does anyone have both front brake backing plates for girling calipers?
This isn't the sort of thing that one normally has just lying around but I'm hoping some partsmonger will have these and be willing to part with them.

Many newer cars don't have backing plates. You could just leave them off and save yourself the trouble and money. I removed the backing plates from my 88 740 Turbo in order to improve cooling - it had the horrible outer surface vented Girling rotors. Helped a bit.

The only thing different in the pre 81 and post 81 years was the size of the wheel bearing and hub/spindle...they got larger in the later years.

I needed those plates and got then from Hirsch Industries Recycled Volvo Parts, in Phoenix... it was a couple of years ago $25 each.

Why oh why don't they make 240s anymore :(

I went to their website but only saw new parts. I may have to call them. Thanks.

Email them. they have (had) a ton of used parts. got an complete front strut tube down to the hub spindle for my 80 when the lower spring carrier rusted out. not a speck of rust...$75, about 5 years ago.

What do you mean by "backing plate"? I've got all sorts of brake parts, I'm just not familiar with your terminology.

I mean the disc shields. The plate looking thing behind the hub (I hope Erling won't mind if I use his pic).

      Got any?

If you have a lot of tension and you get a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle:
"Take two Aspirin" and "Keep away from children"

Thanks, Art. That may come in handy.
Am I to assume '85 and on is different? Because I was thinking they were the same for all years.

My fiche only covers 79-85, but I agree with your thought they'd be the same - at least until ABS anyway. Maybe then too, I just don't know. The price points should be helpful, e.g. I might POR and glass one at $80 and not at $30. Or buy a decent Southern specimen for $10 and not $20.

A lot of money is tainted. 'Taint yours and 'taint mine.

The problem with mine is they both have a nice crescent shaped hole at the bottom.
An online search for the # turns up nothing. I'll have to call around.
