Power antenna question 200

Just installed a Volvo factory power antenna on one of my 240's. It seems to work good only going up when the radio is on. If you put the CD player on or shut the radio off it goes down. Just wondering what the correct height is when its in the raised position. It's somewhere around 15" or so. Maybe this is right but I expected it to go higher.

    Power antenna question 200

Sounds like something's not quite right. I don't know why your radio selects the antenna to go down with CD use but I suppose some do that.

As far as I know the radio provides a ground to the antenna wire when it's operating, which flips the relay on the antenna and causes it to run the motor to raise it.

The antenna actually has +12V at all times, which is how it manages to go down by itself after you've turned the car off.

In any case I'll assume the radio is just doing its thing and for whatever reason that model has been designed to lower the antenna when listening to the CD...

The antenna mast should wind up higher than the roof. Probably close to 3 feet tall. Mark's statement of 30 inches is probably right on, I've never measured it. Look for damage to any of the tube sections in the mast, and oil the thing, wipe it clean, get all grit and dirt off it.

Mine starts to stick every winter and I end up spraying it with WD40 and wiping it down.
