'73 1800ES spotted in transport in CT 1800

Spotted yesterday 12/30/2006 on I-95 southbound in Connecticut.
Car was on a flatbed truck of some kind for transport.
That car was gorgeous. Light blue.

I would guess that somebody here knows that car.

I'm a regular on the 200 board. I love the looks of the 1800's but a vintage car is not something I can handle at this time in my life unfortunately.

I googled for pics of 1800's earlier today to figure out what it was that I saw - it has to be the '73 version. Had approximately rectangular tail light lenses and a huge glass tailgate. Couldn't see the front too well due to how it was loaded on the truck bed. Looked gorgeous.

I've got a 73 1800ES. I'm not sure if there's any great difference between the years on the three years of the ES Wagon style 1800.

I always thought they were really weird, but the body style has grown on me.

Mechanically, the 1800 is at least as straightforward as any 240.

can't see a safety bar from the exterior of the car. Bumpers are subtle - although I agree that my 73's is up a bit higher to meet NTSB regs.

There have been discussions about the existence of 71 1800ES wagons, hence three years.

Some countries title cars based on the year they were sold, Sweden is/was one. My '63 Duett was titled as a '62 when it came over from Sweden for instance. Paperwork indicates it was soldtitled in late '62, the C in the type code, 21134C shows it is actually a '63 model.

This is probably where the "1971" ES myth came from, they were only produced as '72 and '73 models, but some may very well have '71 on their paperwork. Seems to be pervasive, if you look at ebay you'll see Minichamps offers a '71 ES scale model.

I know, I tried to confirm the 71 thing and got pretty much shot down here.
Check production records on 1800 gallery site.
