Go to this website and download an owner's manual for your car.

After you register you can get into the site. Click on Owners Library and you can input your car information. You will not find the owners manual for the turbo therefore select the non-turbo 940 sedan or wagon. IIFC, the 940 normally asperated, turbo, wagon and sedan all share the same owners manual.

The marking is on the left side axel facing the rear. Your will see the label outline under a layer of under coating and you will probably find it marked 1041, 4.10 ratio. The rear end should be ALD. I used Mobil 1 GL 4-5, 75/90W. The bottom screw in the differential cover is the drain screw which also has a seal on the end to prevent leaking.

A 95 940 has an automated locker differential and takes 85W-90 grade diff oil. To help your differential and pinion seal and improve fuel economy slightly, use Mobil 1 75-90 or Castrol Syntec/Valvoline synthetic gear oil. Do NOT add any limited slip additives. See the FAQ for drain and refill instructions.
