Help needed- strut/spring clunking! 200

My upper spring seats are loose one week following replacement of the strut mounts. There is noticeable play when pushing/pulling on the springs. Everythings seems tight- can anyone help me?

    Help needed- strut/spring clunking! 200

The strut moves within the mount, and the mount is secure to the car? Or is the strut good to the mount, and the whole mount moves relative to the car? Or is there too much play in the rubber part?

Two of the more common causes of post-operative suspension clunking is a loose gland nut or sway bar link. Sometimes the movement we see is unrelated to the clunk that we feel. It sure is aggravating to do all that work on a suspension, just to have it develop a new noise.

Fixed my clunk. The reused-one-to-many-times gland nut was the problem. I took EVERYTHING apart today- replaced the strut cartridges as well- just for the new hardware (gland nut and top nut). The old gland nut wouldn't hold- seems like the threads were worn or something. All seems much better now.
