spark plug threads rusty 900 1997

I just pulled the plugs on my 97 960. This car has sat for 5-6 months. I know! I know! ... Anyway the plug threads are rusty and the threads on engine are rusty. I vacuumed out the areas after pulling the coils so it's pretty clean. Question is when I put in the Volvo plugs with anti seize will any of the rust on the engine threads fall down into cylinder? Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks

I am really cheap. I use oil from the dip stick on the spark plugs. In your case, don't worry about a flake of rust. It won't hurt a thing. Just oil the plugs, screw them in by hand a couple of times to make sure all of the rust is covered and they unscrew easily.

Wow, how did you get the plugs out? It couldn’t be much more than a film of rust. I usually clean old oil and carbon from the threads with a cotton rag wrapped around a dowel sprayed with carb cleaner then turn the dowel/rag into the sparkplug hole.. I’ll follow it up with a dry rag and use anti seize on the plugs. IMO, you won’t get enough rust from the threads harm the engine.

I was sweating bullets pulling those plugs out, hoping I wouldn't break anything. It sounds like a good method with the dowel. Thanks for the input.
