rear shock absorbers

Hi All,

I got a boge pro gas rear shock absorbers from http://www.eeuroparts.com part number is 1329507B.
Strange thing is that they do not expand as the original shocks on the 740gl '90 i have. Is that because they are gas? Or defective? Should I manually try to expand them and install them? Should I add any oil to them?
Also I did not get any bushings that should come with the shock. What is the proper way to install them?

Thanks for any advice you might have
Stefan

Your new shocks will be stiffer; that's not a problem. But, you really do need the bushes for installation. Rubber deteriorates over time. I have never received new shocks that did not have at least the rubber bushes in the box. Sometimes you have to reuse the metal cups (washers) but I just don't recall ever having to find new rubber for shocks. Check the Volvo parts list for your car to see if they are called out seperately.
