small clock repair? 200

i hooked up the small clock that runs from my tach (after the coil wire ordeal...) and its not working. the light works, the power wire has juice and the ground is good. i know there's a way to repair the large clocks, but is there anything out there to fix the small ones?
thanks!

You can fix it if your clock has the usual problem. The clocks usually work fine above freezing, but stops when it gets cold. You just have to replace 2 capacitors. You can get the caps at radio shack. I can dig up the part numbers if you decide to fix it. Its not a simple job because the clock is crimped into its can. You either have to cut the can or uncrimp the face. When I did it I cut the can with a hacksaw and ducttaped it back together. It worked well. The duct tape also eliminated the need for the 3 rubber feet.

But as was said in other posts it might be easier to get another clock.

I changed out the small clock in my 245 with one from a 1989 240 GL. It had a 3W light bulb instead of the typical 1W. So much nicer at night. I don't no exactly when Volvo changed the light bulb size. Just something to keep in mind when looking for a replacement.

If you want to just get a new one, let me know. I've got several, and at least one of them works! I'll sell it all reasonable-like... you know, Brickboard discount, etc.

Best,

Lanval
