Broken fuel line into fuel filter banjo fitting (244) 200 1982

Got a little too "motivated" to pull off the fuel filter during a change and broke the fuel line into the fuel filter banjo fitting.

All fittings into the filter are intact. But the fuel line end, more specifically the flared edge of the fuel line that sits inside the conical screw-on section of the banjo fitting, fatigued and snapped.

Question: is there an inexpensive fix to repair the broken end with a replacement nylon or metal piece that will fit over the fuel line and under/into that conical screw-on part of the banjo fitting?

Like this? Or something similar?

Sorry about the extensive verbage- rather be too specific than not enough (particularly when I don't know what to call some parts)!

Thanks for the tips, all.

It seems I was monkeying with the wrong end of the fuel line the whole time (and, as a result, snapped the fuel line for nothing replacing the fuel filter).

I broke down and hauled the critter to a decent repair guy who narrowed the problem to the fuel return line which was clogged with something resembling molasses mixed with tar. After replacing, then unkinking the line, the brick runs like a dream!

How long to fill a fuel filter using fuel pump? 200 1982

It took a disconcerting amount of time for the system to prime after changing the fuel filter on my '82 GL. Run the pumps like Bruce (Lucid) said and hopefully it'll start right up. If it doesn't, make sure you don't have a leak - k-jets are finicky, even a small trickle could make it stubborn.

Just a minute or two. Did you read my fuse-jumping post? (NMI) 200 1982

Broken fuel line into fuel filter banjo fitting (244) 200 1982

Thanks Sean-
Got the fuel line reconnected, but now not seeming to get fuel from the filter to the injector. Starter, all electrical okay and I'm definitely getting pressure through the new filter. I was told by a mechanic that it should get fuel right away, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Gonna check for clogs in the injector side of the fuel line and/or vacuum hose leaks.

Any other suggestions?
Gratefully!

To run the pumps without using the key/starter, jumper the fuse inputs (Left side contacts) of fuses 7 and 5.

I see you got a V8 - wow, I didn't even realize Volvo made such a block. Please tell me what it's like.
I run a 240GTL and a T5 and love both to bits (I'm new to volvos as you may have guessed!!!)
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,

The V8 was from an '89 Ford Mustang with the 5.0 HO engine.

If you were registered here (instead of "claiming to be") you could click on the small picture to get a larger version and car details in my profile.

For more on V8's see the "V8 Conversion" forum here by selecting it from the
--select shortcut-- menu at top right.

Most guys that do that (it's common enough) use a piece of regular fuel hose clamped down on both ends. Parts at Napa will cost you like $5.

Or you can buy the fitting from FCPGroton.com if you're anal about it.
