I emailed Volvo about the badges and received the following reply:

Dear Dan,

Thank you for contacting Volvo.

Please call the Volvo Personal Shopper at 1-800-550-5658 so that we can assist you in joining the Volvo High Mileage Club and in receiving the medallion.

Best Regards,

Volvo high milage grill emblems --- Not on the grill !!! 200

Don't put your badges on the grill, put them on the recess beside the rear plate, that way a number of people will see them in traffic every day!

Stop in to any Volvo dealer parts department and ask for the High Mileage Club form. They will scoff at the fact that you drive a 25-year-old car, remind you that they hardly stock any parts for it, suggest that you buy a new V50, and dig around until they find the form. You will put your VIN number and various other bits of info on it, and send it to Volvo Cars USA. They will send you your badge. And it's all free.

While they're scoffing at you, though, be sure to mention that if they had kept building cars like the 240 that were well designed, and inspired drivers, they wouldn't be a subsidiary of a third-rate American automaker, which is about to put them on the block again, no doubt to be bought by a Japanese car company which is going to institute a policy of reminding them daily of the very facts you just mentioned.

Of course, that my slightly increase their snottiness level, but hey, you can't pin open th eyes of the ignorant and expect them to thank you. Remember what happens to prophets in general....

Best,

Actually, it *was* the 240/740/940 that nearly bankrupted Volvo. Who wanted to pay premium prices in the '90's for a brand new 114hp car with no bling?

It pains me to say it, but from a financial perspective, Volvo didn't roll out the FWD platforms soon enough.
