Timing Belt Installation S90-V90 1996

I'm about to put my first timing belt on a 6 cylinder Volvo. I've done several 4 cylinder cars with no problems. I notice the belt for the 960 has no timing marks like the belts for 240s and 700/900 4 cylinders. Do I just roll the engine to #1 TDC, hang the belt on the appropriate sprockets without moving anything and release the tensioner? Is there clear timing marks on the crank and cams etc? Thanks. Brent

The marks are there - as described by Ryandomu. Just be sure that you see, understand and can align all three marks BEFORE removing the original belt. Once that's done, the 960 is actually a piece of cake to do. Use a small mirror to see the stationary matchmarks.

Brent, How many miles on your engine?

The 900 FAQ's has the procedure listed there, as well I have doumented it well and can send you a copy of that as well if you like. I recommend reading them both it should answer most all your questions.

    WAIT! STOP!
I got my wires crossed. The LEFT cam marker must be at 1 o'clock and the RIGHT cam marker must be at 11 o'clock.
    Sorry for the mistake!

There are timing marks on the two cam wheels and on the crankshaft pulley. On the right cam, it shows TDC as being at the 1 o'clock position (mark on the cam wheel must align with the 90 degree notch in the timing belt cover. The left cam mark must be at 11 o'clock position (again, align the marks with the notch).
As to the rest of the procedure, there are others here who are much more qualified than I am to tell you just how.
You might want to consider replacing the tensioner and the tensioner/idler pullies. Stay away from Scantec parts. I've heard alot of bad things about them.
