81 240 DL coupe....fuel pump circuit HOT WIRE! 200

Ok, the red wire coming from my main fuel pump circuit is very hot to the touch at the fuse, and the two terminals that hold the fuse. You can see that the plastic "circuit board" material is brown and looks burned on the red wire side..the fuse is not blowing, but the brass holder gets awfully hot.
any suggestions as to what may be causing this, and what to do to remedy the situation?

    Do as Evan suggests, but don't ever expect that point (or your Fuel relay) to feel cool. At least that's been my experience with some 7 or 8 amps of normal current flow.
