brake ? 200

Hello
About a year ago I replaced rotors, pads, and all hardware on my 90 240 wagon. Now the front pads are trashed and the back are like new. What would cause the front braks to do most of the work?
Thanks
Dave

pads 200

on one of our 240's i have replaced all the pads onece a year whetehr they have needed it or not and the fronts have invariably been cloe to needing it a few times.

pads are cheap and in the 17 years i have owned the 1990 sedan they are running on "original calipers (4) and original rotors"

pads are cheap, never gripe about throwing in a set too soon. too early is better than too late.

Yup - fronts do most all of the work. In the two lines that go the the rears (I am not familiar with changes with ABS) there is a device that is to regulate the pressure in the rear. That regulator may be bad, seldom but possible. Thus, your rears may not be doing anywhere near the amount of work that they should.

There is a recent post what discusses this.

How to check? Wish I knew.

Good Luck,

Bob

Standard automotive practice, even more pronounced with FWD.

during braking much of the vehicles weight is transfered to the front. Volvo 240's have a valve that limits the amount of braking apllied to the rear brakes to around 30%. without this the backs would lock frquently. I find the backs last about 4 times the front.
