Use Nissen radiators from reputible source S90-V90

I used a CSF radiator from radiatorexpress.com and it failed after 2.25 years. Neither radiatorExpres nor CSF will acknowledge my emails. As an FYI go with Nissens from fcpgroton.com or eeuroparts.com for your radiator needs.

    Analyzer,
Sorry for your pain, but thanks for helping to save the rest of us. I replaced the hoses on my '97 last year and found cracks in the plastic connector - just like I read about here. Hoping it will survive another year since I just replaced the coolant. Sounds like Nissens are worth the $...

You are taking a huge risk by keeping that radiator: the likelihood of failure real soon is virtually 100%. Save the coolant by draining into a bucket, replace the radiator, and enjoy the security of knowing your engine will not fry. The cost of an overheat in the B6304 engine may be replacing the entire engine, unlike the B230 which can be easily repaired by replacing the head gasket.

I found cracks in the plastic connectors on mine too after doing some work. It lasted 3 days before breaking off suddenly. Get a new one quick.

      I ordered mine from FCPgroton.

I have ordered replacements from both eEuroparts and FCP Groton. I received both the day after I placed the order. I have replaced with 2 Nissens and one with a an all metal for a 93 940 wagon which I used to own. The all metal works fine in the 940 series, but for a few $$ more, I prefer the Nissen version.

Okay. I replaced my original radiator with a new Nissen from Groton over the weekend. I couldn't live with the threat of failure after such a direct warning! The original Blackstone in my 97 wagon had a metal sleeve supporting the plastic connector. I gave it a few good whacks with a hammer and got the crack to open, but the whole thing did not break off. Seems likely it would have survived a few more days. On the other hand, I'll sleep better before the next long-haul trip...
          -Mike

Good move. When they break, it's usually catastrophic so you saved yourself some grief even if the existing radiator had a little life left. BTW, the metal sleeve is new: I have not seen them before. They may have concluded that some reinforcement was necessary to prevent just those losses people have seen.
