rear right turn signal question 200

i was trying to fix the r. rear turn signal on a co-workers 84 245dl today and have a question for yall. his r. rear signal works on and off, his garage said the whole signal assembly needed to be replaced. i had a spare from my recently junked 245, i put it in hooked it up and everything worked fine for the first few minutes. when i had everything put back together, we double checked all the lights and the signal wouldn't work.

i double checked the bulbs, bulb holder and the wire connections which i cleand off prior to instal. pretty sure its not the tail light assembly now, what else can i look for. is there a relay or something that could be dying? or just a short somewhere in the rear harness. he was rear ended a few yrs back and had the rear hatch replaced. any ideas? all the other turn signals work fine.

rear right turn signal question 200

Hmmm, 'tis a puzzle alright.

The harness for the right side tail light goes from the left side to the right along the bottom of the cargo door opening. Open the spare tire compartment and the right side storage compartment and remove that wall panel so you can see what's what in there.

Trace the harness across, see if anything has damaged the harness.

Check for good grounds, clean and tight.

Good Luck,

Bob
