I am marking my last post as answered - HUGE THANKS! I am confident I have the cams in correctly. Now that the engine is together and it cranks fine, we are getting fuel to the cylinders but there is no spark from the spark plug. any ideas?

All of your grounds connected? The one at the rear at the exhaust cam, the two that attach to the head top for the injectors, and the one at the driverside engine mount. That last one got me the first time, had the same symptoms you have now. Maybe the plastic wire guard was loosened to get at the big bolt at the bottom of the intake. On the other side of one plastic guard bolts is a nut and wire tang for the ground to the power stages. That could be your problem.

I think a very in-depth description of these wires locations and ground points is going to be necessary as none of them appear to be present on this car...

Just to make sure I'm not looking for something that shouldn't be there, these are the braided ground wires and not insulated ones, right? We have a 740 and also the one ground between the exhaust cam position sensor and the firewall, and so I just assumed there would be some consistency in wire type.

She's Alive!!!! All grounds were connected but after removing each one and cleaning it with liquid electical connection cleaner she started. Runs somewhat rough but we'll get the bugs out! Very excited!

If the car had not been started for a while, it will run rough for a minute or therabouts while the hydraulic lifters get pumped up. It will also sound a bit noisy in this period.
