Update: Motor mount brackets to install a B21/B23/B230 in a 1800 1800

I posted this in April, and had some interest in them.

Found someone who can make motor mount brackets to mount B21/B23/B230 engine in 122/1800. Sounds like $200-$225 a set.

I'll be out of town the next couple of weeks, so I might be slow to respond.

Email me if anyone is really interested.

Paul

Update: Motor mount brackets to install a B21/B23/B230 in a 1800 1800

I hope you realize that it takes a lot more than motor mounts to put a B23/B230 in an 1800. I can't speak about the 122, with which I have no experience, but the 1800 is difficult. I'm putting a B230FT in an 1800ES, and the following are issues:

Oil pan interferes with cross member - modifications required to both.
Alternator interferes with steering box - alternator needs to be moved. (I converted my ignition system to distributor-less, so the alternator now occupies the space the distributor used to.)
Modified transmission mount required.
Shorter driveshaft.

Depending on what intake manifold you are using, there might be interference with the master cylinder on the 1969 and up cars. Earlier cars with the separate brake booster might be OK, and later cars might be OK with the CIS manifold.

I'm told that the exhaust manifold intereferes with the right upper a-frame, which requires a custom exhaust manifold. I built my own manifold as I'm putting a turbo in the car, which is another whole story.

I went with an after-market engine control computer, so I didn't need the MAF, airbox, computer, etc from the donor car.

My engine swap is finished, but the car hasn't been driven yet, which means there are probably lots of other issues that haven't surfaced yet. Bottom line is that this is a difficult swap that requires a lot of fabrication and adaptation. Feel free to contact me if you want further information.

Update: Motor mount brackets to install a B21/B23/B230 in a 1800 1800

I run a B21F/M41 combination in my 122. The car has been fuel injected using Megasquirt, and soon will have the ignition and an idle control motor run through the fuel injection system.

The car has been running since 2003 with about 20,000 miles on this engine. I'm very happy with this upgrade.

My car is posted here:
