MSD coil location question 200

I've recently purchased an MSD Blaster 3 coil for my '83 project car. The coil will fit in the stock bracket but in the MSD instructions it says that it's recommended to install the coil vertically. Since the stock coil mounts horizontally, I'm wondering if anyone here has come up with a solution to this. Thanks.

MSD coil location question 200

Hmmm, tough call, consider an aftermarket clamp and mount it to the strut tower. Drilling a hole will be required.

That being said, if MSD recommends mounting the coil vertically, that means one of 2 things:

1: The crimp seal at the lid is prone to leaking.
2: They skimped on the amount of oil they put in the coil (to provide an air cavity) sufficiently large to allow for thermal expansion of the oil.

In either case, it makes me question the quality of their design and or production. That's my 2 cents worth.
