Start inhibitor switch 900

Please excuse my ignorance but is the start inhibitor switch the same thing as the PNP switch?

Yes. The PNP switch performs that function plus several others such as backup lights, tells tranny ECU what gear has been selected. It is mounted on the right hand side of the tranny. It does often fail and will cause various problems.
    What symptoms do you have?

I have the usual symptoms .It's just that the term inhibitor switch came up with a tech guy at Volvo. I wanted to make sure that we were talking about the same thing. Hope to overhaul the switch next week when I get proper grease. Not looking forward to it. I thought that my days of crawling under a car were over. Thanks for the info.
