Driver side window problems.. 700

My 89 740 has a problem with the drivers front window. I am hearing air coming from the upper left hand corner, I also notice my window tint is wearing on the edges like the runchannels are dry. While checking the regulator and motor I notice movement when the window is rolled up and down. There is plenty of grease so that is not the problem. Could the runchannels cause my wind noise and water leak at the corner? what can I do to fix it?

    Driver side window problems.. 700

    Hi Mike,

I have the same problem and changed out the seal without solving the problem.
It turns out that this is a chronic problem with slop in the window regulator
and/or links. The drivers window falls forward leaving the seal at the upper
    rear corner.

If you use the Brickboard search engine for "Window Regulator"
you will see that people replace the regulator and or tighten the four
mounting nuts for the regulator. There is no play in my regulater mounts.
I plan to yank out the regulator soon and see if something is bent or
broken that can be repaired. The sector gear is twisted in mine.
FCP Groton sells a new one for $120 or so, I forget the exact price.
There's a starting point for replacing it with "New". Take your chances with
    a boneyard regulator.

Please post back with any success stories.

    Bill
