Rear hatch shocks S90-V90

I own a '94 850 Turbo wagon.
I am replacing some worn out rear hatch socks and all attempts to squeeze the shocks and then istall have failed. I need a good way to reduce the sock length so I can get it properly installed.
Thanks Mike

I have installed them on my v90. Seem to remember just lifting up slighyly on the door to accomodate the additional length. Are you sure you have the correct shocks?

Get i don't know. i would thin k that you could get a nylon strap to loop around the shocks longways. Where the two ends of the strap meet, put a rod in there, and turn in like a turniket.

The other optio is to wedge one end of the shock against the inner lip of a door jamb, and he other side against a door (this is all taking place in your house). Then lean against the door to compress the shock. Remember, you can't force these shocks, they compress best with slow and steady pressure. Once you get it a good length, try the starp/turniket thing to keep it from springing back open.

Those are all the Wile E. Coyote ideas i have for now.

I've installed plenty of them and have yet to have to compress anything to get it done. It should be a simple matter of remove the upper panel that covers them where they go in and attach to the body and swap them out.

At the risk of asking a dumb question..... are you installing them from outside the car with the rear hatch open? In this case, there should be no need to compress, you simply wiggle the rear door to fit them in.

I have this mental picture of you trying to fit them from the inside!

      Cheers,
      Paul.

        OK guys back in Town.
I got these off a later model than Mine. A 1995 850 wagon.
First I'll need to check and see if they tarde off.
Well yes I was in the car but had the hatch held opened by my bride and they
don't quite fit while the hatch is fully extended up.
By the way Paul, no doumb questions here.
Thanks for your help. I'll tackle this again Tuesday morning.
        Mike
PS Shocks are the same length as those removed.
