Shocks - Boge TurboGas or Bilstein Touring 700 1988

Looking for opinions on ride quality/handling of Boge TurboGas shocks vs Bilstein Economy/Touring (NOT the expensive HD shocks). Looking for ride/handling similar to the stock feel of the 740 Turbo or a little more controlled ride without ride harshness. Thanks -

Shocks - Boge TurboGas or Bilstein Touring 700 1988

    Zack,

I'm running Boge Automatic, Turbo and ProGas shocks on several on my 740/940 Bricks as well as Tokico Gas on a couple of my 240's. My favorite on the 240's are the Tokicos. My 95 944T has Boge Pro Gas on all four corners and they provide a compliant, comfortable ride at low speeds and very good handling when pushed hard on twisting roads. A very good shock for the 740/940 series. I have IPD sway bars and a lower brace on the 940T which has really improved the over all handling. I'll be adding a Cherry Turbo top strut brace soon. Even without the additional suspension components I'd say my favorite shock/strut for the 740/940 would be the Boge Pro Gas. My $.02

On the other hand, I have heard the Bilsteins are a bit too stiff, which is not the case with the Boge Turbos which I have on the 744 and 245. If you have a wagon, I would use Pro Gas's on the rear, they are on my 745-16v.

i've got a buddy who has bilstein touring shocks with the ipd lowering springs and his ride is more firm than stock for sure but not by much , so if your using factory springs Id go with the touring class def. a big difference b/w the touring class and HDs.
