Looking in the Volvo Wiring Diagram for the 1987-88, which might be the same for your 1985, the only relay in the wiper circuit is for the interval setting.

Better chance that something inside the gear box has fallen off or bent, keeping the parking power from being switched off at the parking location.

Get another motor+gearbox unit from a junk yard. Any 240 will fit, as far as I know. OR, you can open up the gear box and see what's fallen out of proper location. About the same labor either way unless the gear box can be repaired in situ.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

    Hi Kris,
I suspect the switch in the wiper motor which does the autopark function when you switch the wipers off mid wipe. The autopark keeps power on the motor from a separate live feed until the wipers reach the end of their travel and at that point the autopark switch contacts open and if the column switch is off the wipers stop.
    Regards,
    Checkpoint Charlie
