Hey everyone, was at the local pick and pull today (Oceanside Ecology)and found this spoiler on a 244, I remembered seeing something similar in the R-sport section of my Netherlands accessory brochure, so I spent the 30 bucks and got it. My question is, is this an actual Volvo accessory, or was this something someone slapped on there? (looked pretty good on the junker...)

I don't have a sedan/coupe to put it on, but one of these days Ill get a 244/242 turbo to put all these parts Ive been collecting on... ;-)

    YEah that's a fircamarobird spoiler. Look at doug kauer's hopped-up 242 to get a good idea for fitment. LOOKS nicer than the group A wing but is there a performance difference? Personally I like the discreet lip spoiler used on some early bmw's.

      Ahhh, I saw the buildup of that volvo a while back, but I forgot whose it was/ where I saw it! thanks for reminding me of it so I can lok it over again!

      I dunno about performance, but it does look good on the 240 series. Im generally kinda picky about having stock volvo things... if I ever get a 242 or 244 I may have to make an exception though...

    As far as I know there was not a spoiler for the 242-244 cars.

    Some years back a Volvo owner screen named "Detailer" posted pix on a spoiler on his 244. He got one for an 850, which fit OK. Looked rather nice, I thought.

    What I don't recall is if there is a problem with the later model trunk lids - 1985 and older have the center section "pooched down", the later models have that part "pooched upwards".

    "Hardknocks" model should have the "pooched down" style. The two lids are interchangeable, said my guy at the Volvo body shop.

    The later style has a different trunk lock. Allows for the trunk to be latched shut but not locked. The lock also has an actuator that is tied into the central locking system. Plus it can be locked using a valet key that keeps it locked unless the key is used.

      Very early 242s and 244s had even a different trunk!

      My '77 244 had a lock much like the later 240s, in that you could leave the trunk unlocked and open it with out a key. Different lock and latch though. On my '77 you would turn the lock and it would release the latch.

      I seem to remember that the lock was actually attached to the body of the car, and not the trunk lid it self, as it is on my '79 242.

      Anyhow, the trunk lid on my '77 was totally different then what is on my '79, and even more different from what is on my sister's '86 244!

      hello
      there were at least two spoilers made for the 200 series.
      one was for Group A and the other was just a option. there is a pic of one on dave bartons website.
