Daughter driving her car to school, parked and called home. No noises, the shifter went into park, but the car would roll backward when on. Looked it over tonight in the dark and rain, the car appears to be stuck in reverse, regardless of shifter position. The shifter moves just does not connect to anything. I'm thinking linkage disconnected, bushings, any and all suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Sounds good to me. The shifter linkage is held on by a wee little 'C' clip that could easily come off. Crawl under and check it, Might need a bolt and nut to stand in for the pin until you can get a new one. Replace those bushings too if you find out that's the problem.
