replacement front rubber brake lines 140-160 1968

Help! My drivers side lines are leaking at the mount where they go from rubber to metal. Both rubbers are badly cracked...didnt notice till I topped off the MC.

Anyone have a pair or have a line on inexpensive (lol) new ones?

Very easy to purchase affordable new brake hoses from VP Autoparts - a Swedish outfit with an office in NC. Talk to Christer. I found their prices best for high quality brake hoses (just bought them for my 142). Tell him Kelley sent you. They have good catalogs on line...prices are in Swedish Kroner but divide by 7 and you'll get the rough idea.

Make sure to differentiate between the metal "lines" and the rubber "hoses."

Also, ipd carries them in high quality, rpr usually has everything and Rusty is excellent, and I've seen a few on e-bay pretty cheap but do not know quality. I'd buy new brake hoses not old stock. All can be searched on the web for phone numbers.

Regards,

Kelley

Hello,

New rubber lines are easily available and I keep them in stock.

I would recommend that if any of the remaining lines look old that you consider changing them all.

I am not aware of anyone who has the brake lines for a 140 in braided steel although I know that a set can be fabricated and if you do decide on braided steel flex lines that you need to change at least all the front lines.

I've been able to get them from a local parts store.
I think they were Wagner brand, and maybe around 15 bucks each.

Although I have experienced swelled lines, they were usually 20 years old before I had problems. I usually replace them as a maintenance item by then anyway.

I would not replace with OEM rubber lines.
They tend to swell shut and act like check valves and your brakes won't
release. Several of the suppliers have the metal braid ones that are
much better.
