Anyone need a near new engine harness. 200

I recently purchased a near new engine wiring harness for my 85 245. Everyone has said that the 85 harness is a piece of crap, and maybe they are. Mine is in great shape. This could be due to the extreme low miles, and the fact that the car has not been exposed to the elements. At any rate, the technician inspected mine, and tells me that there are no issues with my harness.

The harness that I purchased is supposed to fit an 85-88 Non Turbo. I have inspected the harness, and it is complete, and has absolutely no embrittlement of the insulation. The portion that goes under the engine is shielded. The entire harness is very clean, but not just scrubbed. You can find a little dirt where you should, so I believe the seller, who said that the harness was removed from a 1988 model that was wrecked.

I paid $112.50 plus $10.00 shipping for it. If anyone needs it to get their car back on the road, I will part with it. I don't want to warehouse spare parts. I would rather sell it to someone who really needs it, than to sell it to someone who would just put it on one of the auction sites.

The number on the red tag is: 3515364 -1, which indicates that it is the new harness for a 1985-1987 Non turbo Volvo 240 harness.

New indeed!... Do yourself a slight favor and just double check the one on your car. If its the same number, be happy. If it's the old number, I'd personally be tempted to change it in favor of the newer one... or just not sell the new one and save it for a rainy day. Of course, that's just me. :-)

The one on my 245 has the new number as well, so I suppose it was changed at some point early on. The dealer who kept up the service was on top of things.

Bill:

Can you check and send me the red collar id part no. as Ryan indicated. I will check it on Barton's site. I already checked the site and the '88 appears to be a different new part no. than the '85 - '87. I do not know what the difference is.

If your harness is the same part no. as Barton indicates is the new replacement for the '85 I would be interested.

Thanks

Allan

Do yourself a favor, and look for the part numbers on the two harnesses (usually on a red "collar" on one of the wires). Check those numbers with the newer/older ones on Dave Barton's site. If one is the newer part, keep that one.

Sometimes you luck out finding a newer harness installed by/for a previous owner. We did on our '87 245. :-)
