1993 940 4 cyl.turbo automatic..... for the last year this has happened 4 times. the car will be running fine and when i accelerate to pass a car or even just to pick up speed, the car will bogg down, tach will not go over 3500 rpm, like it's starving for fuel. i'll shut the car down for a few minutes and it will be fine for a few days to a few months. i replaced the plugs, fuel and air filter, outer fuel pump. i know it's not the fuel pump,i disconected each of them sep. and i can't duplicate problem, also new fuel pump relay installed. on 2 of the ocassions while driving i would shut the car off and put the key back on so the car would fire up again due to speed of vehicle and problem stopped..... might be a coincidence.

I had a similar problem with my B23F, I never figured out what was wrong though. I was turning a corner when all of a sudden the engine lost some power. The motor would idle just fine, but when I tried to accelerate, the motor topped out at a low rpm. It would not spool up like it did before. I thought that one of my wiring connections was loose or somthing, so I pulled over and removed my AMM plug, the idle deteriorated but the problem remained. Every cylinder was firing, and I thought it was time to call AAA.
I shut off the motor and called my uncle, but he didn't answer. I figured I'd try my luck fault tracing before I called the tow, and the motor ran fine. I got home and lubed the distributor, I thought that the flyweight advance was sticking. The problem has not reoccured since.
I have the block mounted distributor though.
