washed engine, car will not start

here is a bit of detailing which probably got carried away...

the car is a 1991 740 b230F...

I was in the process of cleaning the engine and engine compartment. After shooting some degreaser, I cleaned the engine and firewall area, including the distributor cap area by shooting the water hose on the distributor cap area (without thinking).

The car now turns over, but will not start.

It was dumb, I know - but any thoughts on how to fix?

thanks

Water may also be grounding out the plugs. I've been washing my 745 turbo for years and it always restarts.

Do you have access to compressed air?

Plus I always make sure it's warmed up before washing to help with evaporation.

Take the distributor cap off and clean it with a rag, Then you can spray a WD-40 to dry it out.

Check the coil wire too and dry off the coil as well.

Good Luck CR!!!!
