Now no start, just clicking... 700 1990

The 745 I just got started with great difficulty, almost started a few times then I killed the battery, 28degrees outside. Swapped out a battery I had in the garage, it preety much started right up, thought I'd shut it off to check it restarting, now just clicking like the solenoid is screwey of theirs a bad connection. Jumped it with my 91 745 and it still just clicks. All batt conns are clean, unscrewed the - cable grounding point that is close to the battery and cleaned that. Cleaned the connections at the ground blocks under the hood. Where does the main(larger) ground cable run to, I see it going with the + cable sheathed together going under the car, I know the + goes pretty much directly to the starter doesn't it? Thinking the solenoid it at fault, now charging the battery, but as I say, even jumping it from my car it just clikced.. Any and all help appreciated.... TIA Tom 27940aholic

See that there's voltage at the wire on the solenoid from the PNP switch while someone turns the key. I think it's blue-green? (Just be careful of where your body is while doing this, just in case it decides to work!).

Wiring diagram here:

If you have voltage, that rules out the ignition and PNP switch, and your problem is probably the solenoid/starter.

I've heard a good bonk on the solenoid/starter might help, but you're on borrowed time if it does.
