Body parts needed for my 740 wagon 700 1990

I need the following parts for my 1990 740-GL wagon.
I plan to spend some time at the pick-your-part, but I thought if someone is parting out a dead 740 that I might get it here. You may laugh at the list. The woman who sold me the car said she had a hard time parking the car in her garage.

Left Front Turn signal assembly
Right Front Turn signal assembly
Left Rear Tail Light assembly
Right Rear Tail Light assembly
Right Passenger side side mirror. (manual)
2 hubcaps to go over steel wheels (passenger side hubcaps were missing)

INTACT plastic inside trim for tailgate (Grey)
previous owner removed this piece and broke many of the attachment bosses
he gave it to me loose in the back end.

Thanks

Try lampsandlenses.com for the turn signals up front. I think I paid $20-25 each for the signals on Dad's 940 (same part as your 740). They fit quite well... and they're new.

A set of four steel wheel covers costs $30 if you look on fleaBay, or aftermarket places... Try to get them with the Volvo stickers. New wheel covers *really* snazzes up a car's looks.

For the taillight assembly, keep your eyes peeled for OK condition used Volvo/Cibie ones. I've never heard of anyone being happy with the way aftermarket ones fit.

As for the tailgate, this is a *classic* 740/940 (850?) problem. Volvo made a $20 "repair" kit which is good for about a year, then it fails again. This spring I'll try to do something with our's. It quite literally is a huge headache. I've got to research the archives here and some old emails at home. Is there anything in the FAQ on this? I think the solution has got to be nuts and bolts with rubber bumpers.

Amazingly I just managed to find both front directionals in a pick and pull near me I needed for a 90 745 I just bought. The front ends on these cars are 1990 specific, the 90 directionals will only fit them and even the grill is slightly wider so the surrounds that go next to the grille and under the headlights follow suit. They are kind of oddballs. I guess it was kind of an introduction car between the old 89 style and the coming of the 91, which a friend who worked for Volvo for a long time described my 91 745ti as being a 940 in actuallity. I think only difference between the 91 740 and 940 wagons was the differnt leather seat pattern and the 9 had 3 headrests in the back. Of course the sedans were evident in the rear window styling. Oh yeah, I lucked out and got both front turn assemblies for $35 bucks for the pair... Tom 27940aholic
